C A M P I N G

New: i slept near a beautiful enchanted stream, drank the most delicious water, ate the best pasta (spicy), peed outside (with head-lamp), sat by the most aesthetically-pleasing artfully-crafted fire, BREATHED in fresh air and silence, did work online in the CAR by moonlight (hotspot)...
Believe it.

picture does not do it justice.  it was truly beautiful.

sake speakeasy

near nyu.  neil's dreamy dream streets, then perfection in sake form.  best feeling i've ever had from alcohol.  the night is a warm wonderful blur of happy thoughts and mild pleasant stumbling....
here's the magic elixir:

"sake with backbone"--actually, just smooth and subtle

sky's the limit/ you're not trying hard enough

don't get greedy, people!  i can't even use mascara!!
but talk about butterfly's-wings-fragiléeee... beautfieeeful
perhaps i will be able to wear them someday *sigh* after my eyelid operation ("sankapul surgery" for those who went to juilliard, or any conservatory really) and facelift -combo outpatient service in 압쿠종 .  i'm sure this exists btw.  cuz then you need to get your hair done and get to prada before it closes.
barf.

thank you andrew---you are so truly artistic, always noticing beauty and beautiful strangeness and unexpected beautiful strangeness.  thanx again for the alert.

paperself is itself really amazing; they're like origami gone picasso on crack hooked up to IV drip of creativity.  i'm envious of creativity.  i'd like to be creative. i'd like to see everything super-new again like a child.  can i just have a new spongy brain or something?
yeah that's like furniture and LIGHTING (fire hazard?)

look at this beautifully intricate array of fanciful-to-max styles:
"peach blossoms "
(i think it's peachBOY momotaro, right?)

"horses"
i say zebras.

"peonies"
huh?

anyway, so pretty and otherworldly.
this totally makes up for andrew's comments about my personality.

THE CROSSFIT CULT
hardcore, masochistic, see-no-limits, all-encompassing, oh and witty

did i say all-encompassing?

britt and i took a break from the mania and i stumbled upon Anti-Crossfit.
britt showed her strength; i showed my weekness....
(haute cakes, in New Town, St. Charles) YUM!

SUNDAY-- after 2 days of intense crossfit atmosphere and staring pure determination and human endurance for pain directly in the face--  i went to work and played my parts all NONdivisi and as perfect as possible, while sitting up absolutely straight in my chair, core engaged.  YES, lisa's version of crossfit.  (i also went to work --it was snowing and cold-- with just a light gymnastics-team-looking jacket ('..and....representing Romania.....')----YES YES CROSSFIT AS LIFESTYLE (even my weeny violinist lifestyle).  i swear it's contagious.  you watch these ninjas and you feel like doing difficult things and doing them showing no exertion as well....  YES YES HUMAN POTENTIAL.  inspiring.  no more slouching and whining for me.  (how long will this last?  i need to watch crossfit competition like monthly, i think)

me doing my own version of crossfit:

i am big hypocrite. who knew?

i am a 공주.  honesty=best policy, esp. dealing with yourself.  i like valentines, it turns out.  i guess i never got that kind of personalized attention before so i decided to just hate the whole thing, flowers, chocolates, barf barf barf.  and of course the swedes sealed the deal for me by hating the fake holiday. and i always try to emulate the swedes.  but... if someone knows you hate the CHEEZE but somehow they also know you really do like someone being genuine and thoughtful (genuinely thoughtful, i guess i mean) even if you yourself don't even know that (brilliant huh) it is then SUPER DUPER cool.  valentine's day can be done subtly, i have just learned.  it's genius, especially here in the midwest where cheeze rulez.  (provel: ewww)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this wholly new experience! whoa, sincerity, qu'est-ce que c'est?  we are ALL too cool for that!  wait, why is this sooooo cool?  oh someone with a really cool genius brain behind it... ahh so.  what a diff a brain makes.  seriously. wow.
(ok, i'm still a hypocrite.  i told you, i know.  honesty, good policy.)  but check it!:

ORCHIDS WHEN IT'S SNOWING ??  QUOI?!  with eucalpytus and subtle minimalist greenery? what? no!! oh but 'tis true.  Y E S:
i separated all of the diff elements so the orchids could BREATHE

CHOCOLATES THAT ARE UNPRETENTIOUSLY AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS AND LOCALLY GROWN???  IMPOSSIBLE, you say?  MAIS NON!
made in st louie; believe it.   and they're so good i cannot inhale. believe it!

[i just tried a bit of the above.  it has a really stimulating and fascinating ko-ju-jang (i'm serious.. seriously!) delayed-SPICE that just made me cough. (not cuz i'm a wuss, but because it caught me by surprise)  and i only had a tiny corner.  must be korean cowboy candy.  oh and--
i was going to include pic of the thrilling (incroyable) sea salt caramels but they're GONE!  wha' hap'nd?]

most over-looked/BEST dinner (understated, nonsalty, delicious) in st. louis is at MAYA'S in maplewood.
you MUST go there.  everything is fresh and amazing.  the people there are super nice and smart and funny.  and musically-inclined!  they are starting as a live music venue soon-- a real stage and green room and everything!  since i am starved for responsibility i volunteered to be in charge of the classical music. yes moi.
also, margaritas are "best in st. louis"--says so on their website! but also i tried--very good.
i had never even heard of this place or seen it, nothin.  the decor is also understatedly witty-cool.
we sat by this:

this work was done esp. for Maya's by the unofficial official interior decor genius
at Maya's, who originally was...a sign designer.  neat-o, eh?

(his name is Bill Christman.  here is an excellent blurb i found about him.  he apparently really is a genius.  did the sculptures at the singularly cool --not just st. louis, but really just VERY COOL--City Museum. (it's like a mini late-nite amusement park, with a bar. i'm not kidding.))

the surprise "valentines" dessert was a delicious un-cheeze perfect fresh single jumbo-sized STRAWBERRY which tasted better than anything in the whole world on this snowy cold day. better. than. ANYTHING.  (not hyperbole. in this case.)
whew: took picture before completely devouring:
this was actually strawberry #2, since my companion is selflessly generous and gave me his.
(i ate both with several utencils, it seems.)

i am still marveling at it all.  i even got to talk continuously through three episodes of the BEST SHOW ever, my companion completely unfazed.  if that isn't sincere kindness...  (continuously, seriously)

i will officially start my (MY) year of the tiger tomorrow.  no sugar (less headache), better sleep habits, no more hideous flakiness.  it is MY year.  MY YEAR!!
(OMG that sounds SO george constanza, e.g.-- "it's the SUMMER OF GEORGE!")

clothes swap update: SARAH

SUCCESS!!  certain magical forces allow miracles to happen once again...
Sarah, bassist and beautiful supermodel (she's like ~6'11 or something)... has raised my ill-fitting (on moi) PETITE ann taylor loft dress to heights (haha, i did that by accident!) of cool never reached before for a petite-sized garment.  thank you sarah!  i knew this dress had capacity for greatness. (i think also i can safely say this is the only petite-sized article she has ever owned) HA! the magique of clothes swap!!
knee-length unflattering dress on me = so cute tunic on sarah!!! YAY

thanks also to EMI (my blog idol as you know) for encouraging clothes-swap, which i never did before.  much more gratifying (sorry) than giving to goodwill.
props also go to EMILY for giving me beautiful CNC shoes and guh-guh-guh-gorgeous silk top (too nice to wear for orchestra)...clothes-swap RULZ!!
btw, sarah is modeling my petite dress (now adult-size tunic) in the SLSO bass room, which is no doubt a glamorous setting, non?  when do u get to see the SLSO bass room, right? recently it's been beautified, GILDED, be-dazzled to grandness by another bassist, associate principal and seamstress (and world-beautifier) carolyn w., who you can see faintly behind sarah)

the perfect squat, a work of art

thing of beauty forever (ninja)

(here's the advanced:)

this, not so much:

FREAKY-DEAKY!

kelley pointing out unbecoming man-panties! eww

the gym was fun today. and MY NECK DOESN'T HURT (miracle!)...  i was scared all day because i've been off the wagon since xmas.  nervous all day about going.  but it's good, even if it's not much, just to do a workout with andrew--he's so organized and perfectionistic. he's even got those old-people pill containers with his vitamins/supplements; i only saw one, but kelley says he has one for each day of the week all lined up at home.  he and kelley are doing 3 workouts a day! in preparation for the CROSSFIT GAMES qualifier next month.  he's apparently even dreaming crossfit workouts.  i love hearing about the workouts and eating cheat-free zone meals---so inspiring! i just got "A Week in the Zone" but haven't started yet.  i had two sips of this "OH YEAH" chocolate drink (32g protein) and that was about enough.  something silty about it.  (32 grams of protein?? yes, not a typo). my workout today was:
500m row
40 squats
30 sit-ups (andrew standing on my feet, only way i can do it)
20 push-ups ("push-ups"- holding weights and girl-style)
20 1-arm rows w/ 15lb weight, each arm (can barely do this--sad)
500m row
have to start somewhere.  lisa 2.0 flamed out awhile back. i'm starting again, lisa 3.0--who is going to run on the treadmill tomorrow.  and try to eat more regularly and more zone-y.  except that i'm going to temptation-ville (brasserie/niche) tonight--i've never been (they just opened across the street) but at niche (the original, in benton park) they always have delicious vegetables that normally i would be a baby about (turnips, Brussel sprouts, beets---delish) but love eating there...
oh here's shawn coming out of our Administrative Service earlier-- random shot o'the day!

guess who he's calling? betcha her name is lisa, her last name starts with 'c' (and it ain't me!)

perfect. black. blouse.

tis truly hard to find

oooh silk....luxury...thank u emily!!  (obviously cannot convey the perfection, hmm..  but it is from the sky, beautiful.  clothes-swap (like emi does) only works if you've friends with excellent taste (*mwah!*).  i'd like to truly swap, but everything in my closet too big for emily boo!
